Tobacco Road Brewing

Tobacco Road Brewing

Tobacco Road Brewing asked me to help them with their new venture that stemmed from Tobacco Road Sports Cafe. They have opened 3 locations and at the third have begun brewing. So the challenge is to build off some of the brand’s equity from the original mark, but update it and allow it to compete with all of the other NC breweries. Above is a proposed mural that builds off the history of “Tobacco Road” even though the brewery has recently opened.   This is the main mark, the…

The Roval 400

The Roval 400

Combining straightaway speed with 17 turns, the Bank of America ROVAL 400 will turn a new page in NASCAR’s history when drivers line up on Sunday, Sept. 30 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. LGA helped Charlotte Motor Speedway highlight the naming rights partner for the race by leveraging the Bank of America branches throughout Charlotte. Over the last few weeks, customers get to feel what it would be like to pull up to the start of this historic race as they approach the drive thru. We used Bank of America’s…

ZABS Place

ZABS Place

LGA each year does 24 hours of community service for charities around Charlotte. It’s always a lot of great work for a good cause. This year I worked on ZABS place and we developed videos, brochures and all sorts of collateral to help them out. One of the pieces I particularly liked was this invite or flyer for their Pajama Walk. Charities generally don’t have large budgets, so we developed something that could be printed with any type of paper or ink. I used their logo and typefaces they had…

Quail Hollow Championship 2017

Quail Hollow Championship 2017

The Quail Hollow logo initially came out of a need for a new mark to replace the Wachovia Championship. Wells Fargo bought Wachovia but wasn’t sure if they wanted to be a title sponsor. So in the course of 2-3 days, I worked on (at LGA) the new mark that would share the club’s name. It was only used that year, 2009 I think and the club adopted the Q icon afterwards. Fast forward to 2017, the PGA tour uses the mark (per their standards) when making their championship logo…

RSM CLASSIC

RSM CLASSIC

This invitation, LGA designed for the RSM Classic held every year at Sea Island. It is a beautiful event in an amazing place and we wanted that feel to match the invitation. We sourced boxes that had the look and feel of Seagrass and Driftwood to allude to the location and sealed the boxes with a golf tee for good measure. The booklet that accompanied the invitation features the golf courses of Seaside and Plantation in blind emboss and the headline is a silver foil. The invitation features the…

See America

See America

The Creative Action Network has compiled a book from all of the submissions for their See America project for The National Park Association. My image was picked to be on the cover, Here are some images of the cover. Can’t wait to get mine.   The images were also used with a partnership with Yankee Candles with a limited edition run for the National Parks.           If you want to purchase as a poster, click here. The poster was featured in the National Parks Conservation Association’s…

Panthers – 2015

Panthers – 2015

This is the 2015 for the Carolina Panthers. I finally got a chance to show a bit of the players’ character and show their faces. This is the first time they have been featured in that way.   Ticket Design   Ticket Renewal Brochure Outdoor   Banners The cube animation         At LGA, we had the opportunity to design the tickets for the regular season, but this year we also got the opportunity to design the Playoff tickets.     In preparation for the playoffs, LGA supplied…

Project 543

Project 543

Project 543 tells the story of unique spots across North Carolina we hope will become some of your favorite places. Why 543? Because that’s the number of miles from Manteo to Murphy and is traditionally considered to be the width of our state. Here are some of my favorites from the first couple months of the blog that worked on at LGA. The goal is to design 543 entries that feature the entire state.     Featured in Garden & Gun this month in the Southern Bucket List section….

The Stitched House

The Stitched House

The Stitched House is a great new business started by Christy Parbst. She has started to teach young ladies the art of sewing, something that a lot of people have forgotten. She holds classes for all ages and will do parties and events too. The logo and business cards I helped develop needed to be fun and warm — and resonate well within the space of the sewing world. The mark could be made by hand and uses colors that can be found in felt or different fabrics. The hand…

NC Tourism Identity

NC Tourism Identity

This is a project that doesn’t come along that often, a chance to help brand your home state and develop a logo. Working with LGA, I worked on and developed the new North Carolina mark and even got a chance to develop a typeface exclusively for North Carolina and its agencies. The typeface was developed with Sun Segura at T26 type foundry. This is a video we used to help with the soft launch for Governor’s conference and NC’s partners. We partnered with Michael Heid with the motion graphics.  …

Recovering the Classics

Recovering the Classics

This was a fun opportunity to work with the Creative Action Network. If you aren’t familiar, CAN takes on different creative initiatives that range from political statements to pro bono causes. Their latest is to take on the average book covers that exist in the world of public domain. A lot of these classics are sadly lost to new readers because of the lack of attention put into their covers. So CAN paired with Harvard Press to challenge designers to redesign their favorite book covers. Here are three that I designed…

MAKING TRACKS

MAKING TRACKS

I get a chance to work on this project every year with my client ATD. Each year I try to take a fresh approach with it. This year we wanted to show how ATD has become a huge force from the East Coast to the West and that their service and delivery is beyond compare. The cover was developed with HacJob out of Wisconsin using CGI and retouching. They also produced a handful of illustrations throughout the magazine. 2011 Here’s a little bit of the process involved…

Sam Mills mural

Sam Mills mural

This is a project the Panthers asked LGA to work on for their newly renovated weight room. This graphic is dedicated to Sam Mills memory. Sam Mills was an inspirational player and coach for the Panthers. He inspired the “Keep Pounding” Charity that helps raise money for Cancer research. This graphic helps tell his story and each year the Panthers will autograph the poster that is mounted on the right. It will be auctioned off and proceeds will go to CMC to help with Cancer patients. The wall graphic is…

Charlotte ADDY Awards

Charlotte ADDY Awards

This year LGA was asked to work with AAF Charlotte to help promote the local annual ADDY show. I worked with Margaret Bond and came up with the creative for the show. We also worked with the AAF to determine how and where the show would be. We toured a lot of the venues in Charlotte and found none nicer and more beautiful that the new Mint Museum Uptown. This helped add to our concept. We think that Art Directors and Copywriters have to go through a lot to create…

ATD Identity

ATD Identity

American Tire Distributors decided it was time to renew there logo and identity. They are a long-time client of LGA and I have worked with them for years, so I was excited to get a chance to develop something that was fresh and a bit more modern. We also got a chance to redesign their trucks an integral part of their identity that is probably the most visible. Below is a small piece of the work I designed or art directed. The New mark. A few sketches from the process….
